About A Square D

Proud To Be A Square Dancer

The purpose of this Association is to promote traditional American Square and Round Dancing as a healthful, fun-type family recreation; to provide leadership and direction for its members and to collect and disseminate information regarding square and round dancing on a local, state and national level.

Why Should We Belong to A Square D?

Belonging to A Square D means supporting an organization that has lofty goals.  A Square D's purpose is to promote square and round dancing, to provide leadership for its members, and to share information regarding square and round dancing.

Belonging to A Square D means protection during these litigious times.  A Square D has negotiated and provides a low-cost insurance program to clubs and their membership.  It is a primary liability and a secondary medical insurance group policy.

Belonging to A Square D means assistance to the member clubs.  The A Square D Board Members will assist member clubs only if that club requests it.  Board members are volunteers that have a love of square and round dancing and are willing to share their experience and expertise.

Belonging to A Square D means providing a fun-type activity.  A Square D sponsors three large dances a year.  The Jamboree on Labor Day Weekend, the Sweetheart Ball in February, and the Anniversary/Presidential Ball in May.  Each District of A Square D sponsors a class level dance too.  The Orange District has their Leprechaun Ball, the South Bay/West Side District has a  Spring Fling and the Valley/Ventura/Santa Barbara District has a Student Stomp.

Belonging to A Square D means providing services to clubs.  A Square D Board members may conduct Officer Installation Ceremonies as well as Class Graduation Ceremonies if requested.  Printed materials may be requested at no charge with just a very few at a nominal cost.  Contact any Board Member.

Belonging to A Square D means to be included as a nonprofit organization.  Many facilities require that their use be by a nonprofit group.  Federal and State income taxes are usually avoided also.

Belonging to A Square D means being a part of history.  A Square D has sponsored two National Square Dance Conventions (1988 & 2001) and two California State Conventions (1960 & 1966).  A Square D will be celebrating its 54th Anniversary this year!

Belonging to A Square D is inexpensive.  A Square D dues are $15 per year for each member club!
